Ways to Give

There are many ways to make a donation to Guthrie. For more information about methods of giving, please contact Guthrie Resource Development at Resource_Development@shorinji-kempo.net or 570-887-4420.  It is recommended that you consult your tax advisor before making a gift that has income or estate tax implications.

Cash Gifts

Cash gifts are the simplest form of gift to make.  Cash gifts frequently are made to meet areas of immediate need, to memorialize or honor an individual, or to participate in Guthrie’s campaigns.

Capital Gifts

Often used to support facility-related projects, major equipment purchases and endowments. Capital and other major gifts often provide the donor with naming opportunities.

Stocks, Bonds, and Other Securities

Giving stock, bonds, or other securities is a common method of charitable giving. Donors may see a deduction in their income tax and also may avoid capital gains.

A gift of a home, farm or other real estates can be made to Guthrie.

Guthrie can be named as the beneficiary of your IRA, 401K, or other qualified plans.  All or part of the balance can be designated through your Plan Administrator.

If you’re an individual age 70.5 or older, you can enjoy the tax benefit of making a gift directly from your IRA to charity.

Existing or new life insurance policies may be used as a charitable gift. Guthrie can be designated as beneficiary by contacting your life insurance company.

Guthrie can be named as a recipient of money, property, securities or other items in your will.

There are many types of trusts, including charitable lead trustscharitable remainder unitrusts, as well as charitable gift annuities. Trusts and Charitable Gift Annuities provide opportunities for both an income tax reduction and an income stream for donors. Visit our planned giving website to access calculators that can help you calculate the potential income and tax benefits of making a gift of this type to Guthrie.

Recognizing our Donors

THANK YOU! Our donors are very important to the entire Guthrie Organization.  A donor’s gift allows us to continue to provide excellence in healthcare to those we serve.

It gives us great pride in recognizing those that have supported Guthrie entities, departments, projects, events or specific funds by listing our honored donors in our Donor Report as well as on Guthrie’s system-wide donor wall.  These honors are showcased by category levels which include: Lifetime, Hall of Heritage (Estates, Endowments & Trusts), Annual, and Physician donors.

The system-wide donor wall is located on Guthrie’s Sayre Campus in the atrium concourse near the Gift Shop.

The system-wide donor wall is comprised of a 32” touch screen which Showcases all category gift levels, which can be searched by individual names. The screen is flanked by handcrafted raised panels accented with “Guthrie Blue”, complete with a soft image of the original Packer Mansion.  These panels permanently honor donors who have reached the prestigious level of Lifetime or have gifted monies through an estate, trust or endowments.

This wall also allows Guthrie a mechanism to provide Trustees, Donors, Physicians, staff and visitors with additional information and images about how gifts are used, announce major events, and post campaign updates.

We invite you to stop by and see this impressive display the next time you visit Guthrie’s Sayre campus.
